Idaho History Week 8: Review Idaho
Well this was our last week. I must admit that I am just exhausted.
Thirteen 8-11 year olds require a TON of energy to keep up with. I had
so much fun putting this together, but I am glad that we have a couple
of weeks before our next session. Not sure what I’m teaching just yet!!
This week we did a review on Idaho. I found a download from EdHelper.com that had a booklet with the ABC of Idaho. They covered various items that we touched base on during our study. And a few we didn’t have time for. Well we did a booklet for the state symbols last week so I really didn’t want another booklet. So I got fancy. LOL, I changed it into a review game.

I took the ABC of Idaho booklet and created some game pieces. One part said the ABC letter and what it stood for, the other explained why. I also created little pockets to store the pieces separately. Be sure not to tape these too tight otherwise you’ll have problems getting the pieces in and out.

This is just a simple matching game. No rules necessary. Just match them up.
Ok now this wasn’t my original plan when I was creating my lesson plan. My original plan was to have the students write a summary of Idaho’s yesterday, Idaho today, and what they hoped for Idaho’s Tomorrow. Unfortunately, though a couple of the students would have been able to handle it, Most of them could not.
Here is the minibook I created for the summary. Some assembly is required.

We ended the study with adding a few things to our folders to decorate it. Such as drawings of the state symbols, adding the state Motto, etc. I have included a print out of various fonts that say “Idaho History” for your ease!

We ended with a small party. I was going to bring in baked potatoes, but I was pretty sick this week so I didn’t get to planning this until late Thursday. So I picked up a cake instead.
Well that is all there is to it. I hope that someone can use these for a homeschool study (Co-op or otherwise) or even a teacher out there!
